Census
We were pleased with the 2% growth in this year’s census, it was disappointing however when the interim census had indicated a growth of around 10%. I hope that the figures shown are accurate as it could jeopardise any insurance claims you may need to make if you have under declared.
We will be doing a lot of work this year with the DCs to set priorities for each District. We can then target support for each District in the right areas.
And so on to this year
We want to do even more this year ... we want to help you! You need to tell us what you need. Please contact us and we will do our best!
Our objectives for the next 12 months will include:
- A easy guide to recommending people for national awards
- Make it easier for adults in Nottinghamshire to celebrate success by sharing good news and good practice on the website
- Introduce a District spotlight section on to the website
- Continue to ask Districts to provide news items for the section pages on the website
- Continue to increase positive media coverage within the County
- To make sure that ACCs support ADCs to support their sections
- Share good practice
- Clearly define the roles of ACC and ADC
- It’s ok to have fun and adventure
- Identify alternative funding sources and make access easier using the website for Groups
- To enable more participation in the programme zones so that more young people gain more awards
- Help leaders to understand the zones and challenges
- Support the less easy areas of zones, challenges and awards
- Identify projects that will assist in the development in the County and then find the appropriate funding
- Develop an effective induction programme for our new leaders – trialling in Mansfield
- Continue and increase the number of leader welcome days
This is not an exhaustive list though and I am working with the DCs to identify their priorities for the coming year to make sure that our objectives support you. If there is something we can help with, let your DC know so that he can discuss it with me.
I would like to thank each and every one of you for the work you do with our young people. Nottinghamshire is a brilliant County to be part of and you make it brilliant.
I hope to see all of you during this my second year as your County Commissioner and I wish you all success for continued happy Scouting.
