New Development Officer joins the County
I just wanted to say Hello, introduce myself and let you all know I’ve been appointed the new Local Development Officer (LDO) For Nottinghamshire County Scouts. My name is Craig Morris; I’ll be working throughout the County and City with the aim of increasing membership across all age ranges, as well as adult support. There are a number of projects on going, including the redevelopment of a group in St Anns, and also introducing Scouting back in to other areas of the City and the North of the County.
I have been in Scouting for 21 years from a Beaver Scout up to a Venture Scout. Since then I have been an Assistant Explorer Scout Leader and District Explorer Scout Commissioner across the border in Long Eaton County. I have been in the position for just under two months and within this time I have been planning how to and where help is needed. Hopefully in the near future I will be able to meet a lot more of you and look forward to working to promote Scouting together.

Update
Now I have been here for just under four months I have hopefully met a lot of you and if not I’ll hopefully meet you soon.
I am now getting out and about a little more, I have recently been to several open days in St Ann's promoting and talking to potential new Leaders and youth members The feedback that I have had has been all positive and hopefully we’ll be seeing a Group reopening within the next few months
Also I attended the Central Notts adult recruitment day, which also was very productive with recruiting new leaders into the organisation. The day consisted of a pitch and pack a tent competition, crafts and fun activities to promote and show what Scouting has to offer not only to the young people but also the adult supporters.
Over the next few months I will be conducting school assemblies to encourage new members and potential adult support.
If anyone does require any support with developing their Group, whether it be the need for more leaders or young people, I will do my best to support you
