Water Activities Update
Places are still available for the Star Test Weekend - 7th to 8th June for Scouts & Explorers

Get Knotted – Great Success!
130 Cub Scout Leaders, Assistants and Young Leaders from across the County get together to share ideas, learn new things and celebrate growing numbers!
Event organiser Jock Shaw said, “It’s been a brilliant day, hopefully we have all learned something new that will further improve the quality of programme we deliver to our Cub Scouts!” During the day Leaders had the opportunity to try their hand at new craft activities, learn (and play!) new games, explore drama and singing workshops, visit Programmes On-Line, re-visit basic first aid and learned how to teach knot tying and map reading skills. In closing Jock reminded Cub Leaders, the vital role Young Leaders play in the delivery of Scouting and urged everybody to support and encourage them: “Young People are our future! In years to come they will be the ones running days like this”

Nottinghamshire Scout Hits the Headlines!!!!
KidsOutdoors Nottinghamshire
The Scout Association has launched KidsOutdoors - a campaign to promote safe outdoor adventure to more young people, their parents, youth leaders and schools. The idea is inspired by the Association's new research, which suggests that young people in the UK are spending less time than ever outside.

St George's Day Awards
The Chief Scout has made the following awards in the 2008 St George's Day Awards List. Our congratulations to them all.
The Silver Wolf, in recognition of service to Scouting of the most exceptional nature:
Betty Cheetham - District Secretary, SE Notts District
Pat Shepherd - Local Training Manager, West Bridgford/SE Notts District
Tony Tring - Deputy District Commissioner, Ashfield District
The Silver Acorn, in recognition of specially distinguished service to Scouting:
Carol Bostock - Assistant County Commissioner/Ashfield District
Ex-County Commissioner Stuart Howells presented Carol the prestigious award on behalf of the Chief Scout.
Within the County Team Carol has been ACC Scout Fellowship and Beaver Scouts. She has led from the front and has been key in the growth of the Beaver Section. Stuart said “Carol works tirelessly for the benefit of Scouting and for young people, Carol has worked with section leaders and has really put Beaver Scouting in Nottinghamshire on the map” he went on to say “I was very pleased to hear that the Chief Scout has recognised Carol’s exceptional service”
Our new County Commissioner announces her first 2 appointments to the County Team
Kathryn Wills on her first day as County Commissioner sends a letter of thanks and encouragement to all Leaders and announces that James Pidgeon will be Deputy County Commissioner for Development & Matt Rooney will be Deputy County Commissioner for Communications
