It would be good to share ideas of places to visit for Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Explorers Have a look at his account and then let us know where you have been Mansfield motorcyclists Mike Kistner, Owen Atherton and Chris Hill spent seven weeks of the summer on an 8 800 mile motorcycle ride for charity. The team overcame mechanical difficulties en route. A radiator burst in Stockholm, a carburettor failed in France and Mike Kistner missed the ferry from pain with electrical problems. Fundraising efforts raised £25 short of £2000, which the team made up themselves. Mike recently presented a cheque for £1000 to 5th Mansfield Sea Scouts, where his daughter Ella is a Cub Scout. A further £1000 was presented to the Willow Foundation who give special days out to seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. The Willow Foundation was chosen as a member of Owen’s family benefited from meeting Ronan Keating. The Willow Foundation www.willowfoundation.org.uk 5th Mansfield Sea Scouts www.5thmansfield.co.uk

ACTIVE CITIZENS: VIRGIN VOTERS – YOUTH PARTICIPATION IN LOCAL AND NATIONAL ACTIVITY
With a general election coming up Scouting in coalition with Oxfam GB, UK Youth Parliament and the Hansard Society, wants youth members age 14 - 25 and leaders to participate in Active Citizens: Virgin Voters on 13 March 2010 from 11am to 1pm at the Belgrave Rooms (Masonic Hall), 25 Goldsmith Street, NG1 5LB. This is a chance for young people in Scouting to meet their prospective parliamentary candidates and council candidates and make their views known to both the people that want to represent them and with their peers from their community. Whether a “virgin voter” or currently involved or interested in local volunteering or national campaigns through Scouting and other organisations, this forum for young people offers the chance for you to share your views with the people that seek your support.
This event is open to young people within Scouting, but if this is an opportunity your friends not in Scouting may be interested in, please do let us know! THIS IS A NATIONAL EVENT BEING HELD IN NOTTINGHAM, SO IT WOULD BE GREAT TO SEE AS MANY NOTTS EXPLORER SCOUTS AND SCOUT NETWORK THERE AS POSSIBLE!!!
We want as many young people as possible who would like to participate in Active Citizens: Virgin Voters to do so. We will be providing refreshments on the day and we will be entering all Nottinghamshire/Nottingham City participants into a mystery prize draw!!
So what are you waiting for?!? Email Matt Rooney or call on 07793408963 to book your place or find out more.
