Also see as a Planner & List The Scouts, all aged between 8 and 18, from Bilborough, Broxtowe, Bulwell, Sherwood, Wilford and Wollaton areas of the CIty are being waved off by the Lord Mayor of Nottingham. Cllr Brian Grocock has given the group an official scroll from the City of Nottingham to be presented on his behalf whilst abroad. Explorer Scout, Georgia Dobbs, 14 from the 39th Nottingham said, "I'm so excited, this is the first time I have been abroad with the Scouts. I'm looking forward to meeting other Scouts from all over the world and climbing a mountain." International development is at the heart of Scouting and one of its core aims, the City contingents are joining 1500 Scouts from all over Europe at the International Scout Centre. They will make new friends and take part in environmental activities looking at sustainability and creating a better world. The Scouts will also take part in a variety of activities; they will try their hand at ice climbing, full day expeditions, hiking and glacier walking. The 2011 Gang Show will be held in the Theatre Royal from Monday 28th March to Saturday 2nd April which might seem some way ahead but coming soon are the auditions. OVER 100 SCOUTS LEAVE NOTTINGHAM FOR A 7 DAY INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE
Friday 5th August 2010: 108 Scouts from the City of Nottingham today embark on 7 days of adventure and international friendship at the world renowned Kandersteg International Scout Centre in the Berness Oberland region of Switzerald.
Jon Bugg, one of the expedition leaders said "All of the Scouts are really looking forward to going and so am I! I've enjoyed organising it and we have so much planned it really is the trip of a life time!"

38 SCOUTS OFF ON INTERNATIONAL ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME
Friday 20th August 2010: 38 Scouts from the 2nd Mansfield Scout Group embarked on 7 days of adventure and international friendship in the village of Bach in the Austrian Tyrol.
The Scouts, all aged between 8 and 18, from Mansfield were waved off by friends and family and DCC Matt Rooney,said "It's brilliant to see the Mansfield Scouts heading off abroad. They will have a fantastic week. This trip will help the young people understand that the world is bigger than they think it is and that they are part of a world wide organisation. The 2nd Mansfield are 38 of over 400 Scouts who will have travelled abroad with Scouting this summer."
The trip has been specially organised to celebrate Mansfield Scouting's centenary year. The 2nd Mansfield Scouts are also 100 this year and were the first group to open in Mansfield back in January 1910.
Scout, Hannah Rolland, 13 from the 2nd Mansfield Scouts said, "I'm so excited and I'm really looking forward to going on the alpine coaster! I can't wait to try canyoning as wel.l It's going to be amazing!!"
International development is at the heart of Scouting and one of its core aims, the Mansfield Scouts will meet thousands of other young people from all over Europe during their stay. They will make new friends and take part in environmental activities looking at sustainability and creating a better world.
The Scouts will also take part in a variety of adventurous activities; they will try their hand at white water rafting on the River Innice, climbing, canyoning (hiking, climbing, jumping and swimming down canyons and waterfalls), alpine coaster (a 3.5km long course starting 1500m above sea level), an expedition to Zugspitze (the highest mountain in Germany, at 2,962 metres above sea level) and mountain biking.
Keith Morris, one of the expedition leaders said "All of the Scouts are really looking forward to going and so am I! I've enjoyed organising it and we have so much planned it really is the trip of a lifetime and a great way to celebrate our 100th birthday!
The Scouts raised thousands of pounds for the trip by washing cars, packing bags at supermarkets, sponsored bike rides and selling calenders. The Scouts also received a tremendous amount of support from people all around Mansfield, including; James Henry Trust £2000, Nottinghamshire Freemasons £1000, Mansfield Rotary £250 and Cllr Steve Garner £250.
Robin Wilson, Provincial Grand Master from the Nottinghamshire Freemasons said, "It is a great pleasure for the Nottinghamshire Freemasons to support the Mansfield Scouts to take this trip of a lifetime. It is wonderful to see young people becoming such proud and positive ambassadors for Mansfield and for Scouting".
