A team of volunteers from Nottinghamshire have been mobilised by the Notts Emergency Planning Team to support some of the most vulnerable members of our communities.

The Nottinghamshire Emergency Scout Support Team (NESST for short) is a group of 32 volunteer Scout Leaders from throughout the County who have sprung into action to help the County Council, police and fire service provide emergency support. The volunteers come from all walks of life, consisting of doctors, police, construction workers and office staff.

The team have provided blankets and sleeping bags for a school in Retford in case they get snowed in, taken medicines to vulnerable and elderly people ensuring they have the drugs they need to survive and are set to provide blankets and sleeping bags to an Ollerton based rest centre for motorists who may become trapped in their vehicles this evening.

Keith Morris, volunteer team leader, said "This is a modern day example of how Scouting contributes to our local communities and helps other people who are in need. We're just an ordinary group of people doing some extra"

Nottingham Scouts have also offered it's Walesby Scout Activity Centre to the planning team as emergency accommodation.
